Gimp and Braid

Gimp and Braid have been used in upholstery for hundreds of years and it is now integral to most upholstery workshops. Originally designed as a basic strip cover for upholstery tacks on dining chairs, Gimp and Braid designs have evolved into a plethora of  pattern and colour combinations. This wide range gives so many matching, blending and contrasting options for the keen home designer. The esssential finishing accesory to period furniture reupholstering, Gimp and Braid can be used by the expert and DYI enthusiast alike to great affect.

Besides the common uses of Gimp and Braid in mainstream upholstery other uses are edging the front of pillows, around the borders of placemats and napkins, around the edge of lampshades, as banding on upholstery or bed skirts, as a decorative edging on the top edge of a bedding sheet, on the edge of a ruffle on a pillow and as a style of embroidery style highlight on a pillow.

We sell Gimp/ Braid by the metre in length, with a minimum order of 3 metres.
